If Indeed
თუკი is a stronger if: if indeed, if ever.
How It Works
თუკი (tuk'i) is თუ with the small word კი on it. It means if, but it puts weight on the condition: if indeed, if ever, if it really is so.
| Georgian | Meaning |
|---|---|
| If I have time, I'll come. |
| If I do have time, I'll definitely come. |
The verbs work as with თუ (Level 3): a condition about the future takes the future (მექნება, დაგჭირდება), and one about now takes the present (თუკი ასეა, if that's so).
It is common in offers, doubts and strong promises:
(If you ever need anything, call me.)
(If that's really so, let's start tomorrow.)
(Once you see Svaneti, you'll never forget it.)
Write it as one word.
