-თ (Plural Verbs)
The Plural Ending -თ
-თ at the end of a verb shows we, plural you or polite you.
How It Works
| Person | write | be |
|---|---|---|
| I | ვწერ | ვარ |
| we | ვწერთ | ვართ |
| you (one friend) | წერ | ხარ |
| you (several, or polite) | წერთ | ხართ |
Use the -თ form with a stranger, an elder or a shop assistant, even when you speak to one person: გმადლობთ (thank you), გთხოვთ (please).
Feeling verbs add -თ for plural or polite you: გიყვართ (you love), გინდათ (you want). For we, they use გვ- at the front instead: გვიყვარს (we love), გვინდა (we want).
For they, the verb uses -ენ or -ან instead: წერენ (they write), არიან (they are).
In a shop you will hear the -თ form all the time: რას ყიდულობთ? (What are you buying?)
