სა-...-ო (Places)
Places in Სა-...-ო
სა-...-ო makes words for places: სასტუმრო (hotel), საავადმყოფო (hospital).
How It Works
სა-...-ო (sa-...-o) wraps around a noun and names the place where that person or thing is found:
| Noun | Place |
|---|---|
| სტუმარი (guest) | სასტუმრო (hotel) |
| ავადმყოფი (sick person) | საავადმყოფო (hospital) |
| მზარეული (cook) | სამზარეულო (kitchen) |
| ქართველი (Georgian person) | საქართველო (Georgia) |
The noun's final -ი drops, and a vowel inside may drop too: სტუმარი, სასტუმრო.
The same frame makes adjectives that say what something is for or belongs to: სასკოლო ავტობუსი (school bus), საახალწლო სუფრა (New Year's table). They go before a noun like any adjective.
Many country names use a related frame, სა-...-ეთი: საფრანგეთი (France), საბერძნეთი (Greece).
