-ს (He, She, It)
The He or She Ending
Most present-tense verbs end in -ს when the doer is he, she or it.
How It Works
| I | He, she, it | Meaning |
|---|---|---|
| ვწერ | წერს | writes |
| ვცხოვრობ | ცხოვრობს | lives |
| ვკითხულობ | კითხულობს | reads |
| ვსვამ | სვამს | drinks |
| ვაკეთებ | აკეთებს | does, makes |
Drop the ვ- and add -ს. Use this form with ის and with any one person or thing: ნინო, დედა, ბავშვი, ძაღლი.
Also use it for a noun after a number: ორი ბავშვი თამაშობს (two children are playing). You will learn more about this at Level 2.
When the doer is a name or a noun, the verb looks the same: დედა ყავას სვამს (mom is drinking coffee), ძაღლი ეზოში თამაშობს (the dog is playing in the yard).
