Question Words Before the Verb
A question word goes right before the verb.
How It Works
| Question | The word right before the verb |
|---|---|
| შენ სად ცხოვრობ? | სად |
| ნინო სად მუშაობს? | სად |
| ეს ვინ არის? | ვინ |
| ხვალ როდის მოდიხარ? | როდის |
| რატომ არ მოდიხარ? | რატომ, with არ between |
The spot right before the verb is where Georgian puts the most important new information. A question word is exactly that, so it takes that spot.
If you start with the subject or a time word, it comes first, then the question word, then the verb: ნინო სად მუშაობს? (Where does Nino work?)
Only არ or ვერ can stand between the question word and the verb: რატომ არ მოდიხარ? (Why aren't you coming?)
