კი/დიახ/არა
Yes and No
კი is yes, დიახ is a polite yes, and არა is no.
How It Works
| Word | Use | Example |
|---|---|---|
| კი | yes, everyday | კი, მინდა. |
| დიახ | yes, polite | დიახ, ბატონო. |
| არა | no | არა, მადლობა. |
A short answer often repeats the verb: ყავა გინდა? კი, მინდა (Do you want coffee? Yes, I do). To say no: არა, არ მინდა (No, I don't).
There are two forms of no: არა stands alone, while არ goes right before a verb. You need both in არა, არ მინდა.
You will also hear ჰო, a very casual yes between close friends. Use კი or დიახ yourself.
An answer with no verb is fine too: ყავა გინდა? კი (Do you want coffee? Yes).
