How It Works
At Level 2 you met -ით for tools and transport: ავტობუსით (by bus). Put it on a verbal noun, and it says how an action is done:
| Verbal noun | With -ით | Example |
|---|---|---|
| სირბილი (running) | სირბილით | სირბილით მოვიდა. (He came running.) |
| ტირილი (crying) | ტირილით | ტირილით მოვარდა. (She rushed in crying.) |
| ღიმილი (smiling) | ღიმილით | ღიმილით გვიპასუხა. (She answered us with a smile.) |

The same form also names the means: ქართულს კითხვით ვსწავლობ (I'm learning Georgian by reading).
English often uses an -ing word here: came running, learn by reading. Georgian says it with the verbal noun and -ით.
Some of these phrases come from plain nouns and are fixed: ფეხით (on foot) from ფეხი (foot), ძალით (by force) from ძალა (strength).
