How It Works

The word هم inside the condition, right after the word it stresses, adds weight. It does not change the grammar.

Keep حتی اگر for what might happen or what is not real. For a fact, use با اینکه: با اینکه باران می‌بارید، به میله رفتیم (although it was raining, we went on a picnic).

Add نـ to the subjunctive for even if not: حتی اگر نیایی، ما می‌رویم (even if you do not come, we are going). Before a noun, حتی alone means even: حتی کودکان (even children).

The clauses can swap places: منتظر تو می‌مانم، حتی اگر دیر شود.

    The past with می‌ talks about something that is not true now.
