The Everyday Future

Level 2

The future auxiliary forms are ću, ćeš, će, ćemo, ćete and će. Sutra ću raditi means I will work tomorrow.

How It Works

Compare Sutra ću raditi., Sutra ćemo raditi. and Sutra će raditi. Context identifies whether će refers to a singular or plural third-person subject.

The short auxiliary follows the placement rules for unstressed words. With an explicit subject, Ana će doći. is a useful basic pattern. With the infinitive first, Doći će. is possible too.

Standard spelling changes a -ti infinitive before a following auxiliary: Radit ću. A -ći infinitive keeps its i: Doći ću. The negative uses the full negative auxiliary, as in Neću raditi.
