Present Forms for a Future Event
A perfective present can locate an event in the future.
How It Works
In Kad dođem, nazvat ću te, dođem is present in form but its arrival is still ahead. The clause marks the point that makes the call relevant.
This does not mean perfective present forms freely describe any action happening right now. For an ongoing current activity, an imperfective verb is normally needed.
Use time and condition clauses as whole patterns. A dependent clause placed first is separated by a comma; when it follows the main clause, an ordinary integrated time clause usually has no comma.

When I get home, I will call you.
Dođem names a future arrival.
- Kad završiš posao, odmorit ćeš se.

Završiš presents the future completion as a boundary.
- Javit ću ti se čim stignem.
I will contact you as soon as I arrive.
Čim links the main future to a perfective present.
