htjeti → hoću
Present of Htjeti
The full forms are hoću, hoćeš, hoće, hoćemo, hoćete and hoće. They can express desire or willingness and also appear in future questions.
How It Works
Hoću čaj. expresses wanting tea. With an infinitive, Hoću doći. can express willingness or an emphatic future intention. Tone and context determine how forceful it sounds.
A future question uses a full form before li: Hoćeš li doći? The corresponding neutral statement can use a short auxiliary: Doći ćeš. Full and short forms are not freely interchangeable in every position.
Hoću and hoće also differ in person. Hoću is first-person singular; hoće serves both third-person singular and plural. For a softened request or wish, the conditional htio bih or htjela bih offers a separate construction.
