Relative što + Clitic
Relative Što
Relative što does not change for gender, number or case. An object clitic can show the role of its antecedent inside the relative clause.
How It Works
With koji, the relative pronoun itself shows the role: knjiga koju sam pročitala. In the corresponding što construction, a clitic supplies the object reference: knjiga što sam je pročitala.
Choose the clitic according to the antecedent and the embedded verb: ljudi što ih poznajem. Keep normal clitic order. Do not analyze every je after što as a form of biti; the sentence can already contain another auxiliary such as sam.
This is different from ono što želim, where što itself fills the object slot in a free-relative construction. For complicated prepositional relationships, a declined koji construction often makes the role easier to see.
