Regular IR Present
Some -ir verbs use the short present pattern dormo, dorms, dorm, dormim, dormiu and dormen.
How It Works
Dormir does not insert -eix-. Compare dormo and dormim: the person endings attach to the ordinary stem. Sentir similarly has sento, sents, sent, sentim, sentiu and senten in this model.
Obrir gives obro, obres, obre, obrim, obriu and obren, so even this group has differences worth learning. Do not build every form by copying the dorms pattern letter for letter. A verb table helps show both the repeated endings and the stem's particular behavior.
Many other -ir verbs, such as servir and llegir, belong to the inchoative group and add -eix- in certain forms. Learn which family a verb follows. The infinitive alone does not justify forms such as dormeixo for ordinary dormir.
