Neutral contemporary register markers

Level 3

Choose clear contemporary markers suited to the formality of the exchange.

How It Works

Use gràcies on its own or moltes gràcies for stronger thanks. Moltes agrees with plural feminine gràcies. A common reply is de res; you can also acknowledge a favor with no es mereixen in suitable contexts.

Neutral register comes from choosing words that fit the relationship and situation. D'acord acknowledges agreement; entesos confirms understanding; ens veiem is a common farewell. None requires slang or an ornate expression to sound courteous.

Keep address forms consistent: et truco demà addresses tu, while li truco demà can address vostè. Regional greetings and established expressions are not errors merely because they differ from the local form you first learned. In a formal request, a conditional such as voldria can soften the tone; in a routine exchange, a clear present question plus si us plau can be enough.

  1. D’acord, ens veiem demà.

    All right, see you tomorrow.

  2. Entesos, moltes gràcies.

    Understood, thank you very much.

  3. Em podria repetir l’adreça, si us plau?

Could you repeat the address, please?
