Frequent irregular imperatives
Learn frequent irregular command forms as complete person-specific forms.
How It Works
Common tu commands include fes from fer, digues from dir, vine from venir and ves from anar. Their vosaltres forms include feu, digueu, veniu and aneu. The difference is not made by simply adding a plural s.
Attach pronouns after an affirmative command: fes-ho, digues-m'ho, vine aquí and ves-hi. The spelling ves has no distinguishing accent in current orthography. Hi attaches with a hyphen because it does not elide.
Negative commands use the corresponding present subjunctive instead: no ho facis, no vinguis, no hi vagis. Learning the positive and negative pair together avoids treating no as the only change needed. These short verbs are frequent enough that their irregular forms are useful to recognize without reconstructing them during a conversation.
