per més que + Indicative/Subjunctive
Concessive Mood After Per Més Que
Per més que introduces a concession despite the degree or persistence of an action.
How It Works
Per més que insisteixi, no cediré means that continued or intense insistence will not change the result. Subjunctive presents the concession as prospective or unasserted. Indicative in per més que insisteix, no l'escolten presents the insistence as part of the factual account.
The phrase does not literally ask for a larger quantity of something. It frames an effort, degree or repeated action as insufficient to overcome the main-clause outcome.
As with encara que, mood concerns the speaker's presentation, not a mechanical true-versus-false test. Use a compound subjunctive when the conceded effort precedes the relevant outcome, and choose the main-clause tense independently to express the intended time.
