Andorran Administrative Comparison

Level 6

Andorran institutional nouns use ordinary Catalan phrase grammar with locally established meanings.

How It Works

El Comú de Canillo names a municipal institution; les parròquies d'Andorra names the territorial parishes. The article agrees with the noun, and de introduces the institutional or geographic relationship. These are lexical and administrative conventions within shared Catalan grammar.

Batlle has an Andorran judicial use, so el batlle ha resolt can refer to a judge rather than a mayor. Do not infer an office's role from the meaning that the same word has in a different territory.

Capitalization follows the official name and context; it does not cancel ordinary contractions. Del Comú and al Govern still combine a preposition with an ordinary article. Avoid presenting local institutional terminology as a separate conjugation or agreement system.
