ဘယ်က asks where someone comes from: ဘယ်က လာလဲ။ (Where are you from?)

How It Works

All three questions start with ဘယ် and add the same small word the answer uses.

ဘယ်မှာ နေလဲ။ (Where do you live?)	ရန်ကုန်မှာ နေတယ်။ (In Yangon.)
ဘယ်ကို သွားမလဲ။ (Where are you going?)	ဈေးကို သွားမယ်။ (To the market.)
ဘယ်က လာလဲ။ (Where are you from?)	မန္တလေးက လာတယ်။ (From Mandalay.)

ဘယ်မှာလဲ။ on its own after a noun asks where it is: အိမ်သာ ဘယ်မှာလဲ။ (Where is the toilet?). This is one of the most useful questions for a traveler.

ဘယ်သွားမလဲ။ is also a friendly greeting, like Where are you off to?

The same question works for people: အမေ ဘယ်မှာလဲ။ (Where's Mom?)
