နော်
Inviting Agreement
နော် sounds friendly, so it suits family, friends and warm moments with anyone.
How It Works
နော် is the very last word of the sentence. It asks the listener to agree with you or to remember something.
| Use | Example | Meaning |
|---|---|---|
| Reminder | မမေ့နဲ့နော်။ | Don't forget, OK? |
| Plan | သွားမယ်နော်။ | I'm off, OK? |
| Opinion | ပူတယ်နော်။ | It's hot, isn't it? |
| Request | ဖုန်းဆက်ပါနော်။ | Call me, OK? |
In a statement, နော် checks that the listener agrees: ဒီလက်ဖက်သုပ် ကောင်းတယ်နော်။ (This tea leaf salad is good, isn't it?) The listener answers ဟုတ်တယ်။ (Yes, it is.)
In a request or reminder, နော် makes it warm and friendly. It is a warm way to say goodbye: သွားမယ်နော်။
နော် comes after every other part, including ပါ, မယ် and the negative ending.
To ask a real question, use လား. နော် is for something you already think is true or agreed.
