အမြဲ / တစ်ခါတလေ

How Often

Level 2

For "never", use ဘယ်တော့မှ with a negative: ဘယ်တော့မှ မသောက်ဘူး။ (I never drink it.)

How It Works

How-often words come before the verb, after the person doing it.

WordMeaning
အမြဲ / အမြဲတမ်းalways
နေ့တိုင်းevery day
များသောအားဖြင့်usually
ခဏခဏoften
တစ်ခါတလေsometimes
ဘယ်တော့မှ မ…ဘူးnever

A habit takes the plain ending တယ်: ဦးလေးက အမြဲ စောစော ထတယ်။ (My uncle always gets up early.)

အမြဲတမ်း is a longer, stronger form of အမြဲ.

ဘယ်တော့မှ means "never" only with a negative verb: ဘယ်တော့မှ မနောက်ကျဘူး။ (She's never late.)

To ask how often, say ဘယ်နှစ်ခါ (how many times): တစ်ပတ်မှာ ဘယ်နှစ်ခါ သွားလဲ။ (How many times a week do you go?)

Times of day take တိုင်း too: မနက်တိုင်း (every morning), ညနေတိုင်း (every evening). They go in the same place as the other how-often words, before the verb.

For "not often", use သိပ်မ…ဘူး: သိပ်မသွားဘူး။ (I don't go much.)
