както
Manner Clauses with Както
(Do it as you like.) (As I said, I'll be late.)
How It Works
1. The way that. (Do it as you like.) (Everything happened exactly as we planned it.)
2. As I said, as you know. A comment that points to shared knowledge: Както знаеш, ..., Както казах, ..., Както се вижда от таблицата, ... (As the table shows, ...). Do not use като here: като казах means when I said.
3. Set phrases. както обикновено (as usual), както винаги (as always), and както и (as well as): Поканихме приятелите си, както и съседите. (We invited our friends, as well as the neighbours.) The paired form както..., така и means both ... and. Както и да е means anyway or never mind.
In literary and conversational style, както + imperfect can also mean while: Както четеше, чу шум. (As he was reading, he heard a noise.)
4. Commas. A както clause is separated by a comma, like other subordinate clauses.
5. Как or както. Как asks a question or starts an indirect question: Не знам как се прави. (I don't know how it is done.) (Do it the way I did it.)
