हो / ए / रे
Calling Out to Someone
ए नेहा calls Neha, का हो is a friendly hello, and रे is for close friends and children.
How It Works
| Word | Use | Example |
|---|---|---|
| ए | calling someone | ए नेहा, इहाँ आवऽ! |
| हो | friendly softener | का हो, का हाल बा? |
| रे | child or close friend | रे पप्पू, तनी सुनऽ! |
का हो, का हाल बा? is a friendly hello, like hey, how are things? You can say का हो अमित, कइसन बाड़ऽ? to a friend.
ए is polite enough for an elder: ए बाबूजी. रे is not. With an elder, say ए or leave the call word out.
The verb that follows still depends on the person: a command to a friend ends in ऽ, and one to a respected person in -ीं.
