ले / तक
Until and as Far as
ले and तक mark where a time or a journey ends.
How It Works
Both words come straight after the noun and tell you where something stops.
| Word | Use | Example |
|---|---|---|
| ले | until a time, up to now | साँझ ले, आज ले |
| तक | as far as a place, or until a time | स्टेशन तक, रात तक |
Use ले when you think of waiting or lasting: हम साँझ ले रुकब. Use तक when you think of reaching a limit: बस स्टेशन तक जाई. For time, the two are close, and either one is fine.
Do not mix this ले up with the verb लेल (to take). Here ले is a small word that never changes. आज ले also means up to this day, as in आज ले हम छपरा ना गइनी.
