पहिला / दूसर / तीसर
First, Second and Third
Order words come before the noun: first, second, third.
How It Works
| Number | Order word |
|---|---|
| 1 | पहिला (masculine noun), पहिली (feminine noun) |
| 2 | दूसर |
| 3 | तीसर |
पहिला ends in -आ, so it agrees: पहिला दिन, पहिली बात. दूसर and तीसर stay the same: दूसर घर, दूसर बात, तीसर बार.
They go before the noun, with the helper at the end: ई हमार पहिला दिन अहै (this is my first day).
Use them for days, houses, floors, turns and times: पहिला दिन, दूसर घर, तीसर बार. In a list of steps, say पहिली बात, दूसर बात, तीसर बात.
Hindi says पहला; Awadhi says पहिला.
