Describing Things

Level 1Sounds Like chōṭa, purāna a'ura navā

Most adjectives never change, and a few that end in -आ change for a feminine noun.

How It Works

An adjective comes before the noun it describes.

AdjectiveMeaningChanges?
छोटsmallno
पुरानoldno
नीकgoodno
नवाnewyes: नई
बड़ाbigyes: बड़ी

For a masculine noun use नवा: नवा फ्लैट. For a feminine noun use नई: नई साइकिल. For a group of masculine things you may hear नए.

The adjective keeps the same form before the helper: ई किताब पुरान अहै, ई साइकिल नई अहै.

To say very, use बहुत or बहुतै: बहुतै नीक.
