बिना

Without: बिना

Level 2Sounds Like binā

बिना means without.

How It Works

बिना has two uses.

  • With a noun: noun + के बिना. चीनी के बिना चाय (tea without sugar), पानी के बिना (without water).
  • With a verb: बिना + the -ए form. बिना बताए (without telling), बिना खाए (without eating).

After a pronoun, use the changed possessive: तुम्हरे बिना (without you).

Write के बिना, never कै बिना. The कै of चाय कै दुकान is the "of" between two nouns. With a noun, the word before बिना is के, never कै. After a pronoun there is no के: तुम्हरे बिना.

Hindi says के बिना too. Both languages also use बिना alone before a verb.
