अरे / हो
Calling Out: अरे and हो
अरे calls for attention or shows surprise, and हो at the end makes a call warmer.
How It Works
These are call words. They carry feeling more than meaning.
| Word | Where | Use |
|---|---|---|
| अरे | start | get attention, or show surprise |
| हो | end | call warmly across a distance |
With surprise, अरे stands alone: अरे! बरखा सुरू होइ गई. With a call, it comes before the name: अरे भइया.
Neither word changes the verb. The rest of the sentence is ordinary Awadhi.
हो follows the command: सुनौ हो, आव हो. It sounds friendly, like "hey" or "come on". With someone you must respect, जी and the -इए form are safer.
