Узровень 3Гучыць як neun gile

-는 길에 is used to talk about doing something while you are on your way somewhere.

Як гэта працуе

The pattern -는 길에 literally means 'on the road of' or 'on the way to/from'. It's used to express that you performed an action while in transit to a destination.

Usage:
It attaches directly to the stem of an action verb. It is most commonly used with verbs of movement.

  • 가다 (to go) → 가는 길에 (on the way there)
  • 오다 (to come) → 오는 길에 (on the way here/back)
  • 출근하다 (to go to work) → 출근하는 길에 (on the way to work)
  • 퇴근하다 (to leave work) → 퇴근하는 길에 (on the way home from work)
  • 돌아가다 (to go back) → 돌아가는 길에 (on the way back)

The action in the second clause is something you do 'along the way'. It's an extra task or a stop you make that wasn't the main reason for your journey.

For example, if your main purpose is to go home, but you stop at the supermarket, you can say: 집에 가는 길에 슈퍼에 들렀어요. (On the way home, I stopped by the supermarket).

Comparison with other patterns:

  • -다가: Indicates an interruption or shift of action. It doesn't have to be during a physical journey. Ex: 공부하다가 전화를 받았어요. (While I was studying, I received a call.)
  • -면서: Indicates two actions happening simultaneously. Ex: 음악을 들으면서 걸어요. (I walk while listening to music.)
  • -는 길에: Specifically refers to an action done during a physical journey to a destination.

Тыповыя памылкі

  • Using -는 길에 for abstract actions instead of physical journeys.

    공부하는 길에 친구에게 전화했어요.
    도서관에 가는 길에 친구에게 전화했어요.

-는 길에 is used for physical travel. While '공부하다' (to study) is an action, it doesn't typically describe a journey. The correct sentence specifies the physical destination (도서관 - library).

  • Confusing it with -는 동안 for actions that happen over a duration.

    Іншае значэнне운전하는 길에 음악을 들었어요.
    운전하는 동안 음악을 들었어요.

While not strictly wrong, '운전하는 길에' sounds a bit unnatural if you just mean 'while driving'. -는 동안 (while, during) is better for describing an action that occurs throughout the duration of another activity. -는 길에 is better when you are emphasizing the journey to a specific destination.
