-(i)b turmoq
Keep Doing: -(i)b Turmoq
Verb in -(i)b + turmoq = keep doing it, or do it for a while: kelib turing (come by now and then), kutib turing (wait a moment).
How It Works
This is one of the helper verbs that follow a verb in -(i)b.
1. Building the form
Take the verb stem (the dictionary form without -moq) and add -ib after a consonant or -b after a vowel. Then add the helper verb, which carries the tense and the person:
- kut- → kutib turing (wait a moment)
- kel- → kelib turing (come and see us now and then)
- yon- → yonib turibdi (it is on, it is burning)
2. From time to time
In requests and wishes, turmoq keeps the action going on and off: Xat yozib turing (Write to us now and then), Dorini ichib turing (Keep taking the medicine).
3. For a while, in the meantime
Kutib turing (Wait a moment), Men kelguncha bolaga qarab tur (Keep an eye on the child until I get back), with -guncha marking how long.
4. Going on right now: -(i)b turibdi
With turmoq, the -(i)bdi form is a present, not a past: Chiroq yonib turibdi (The light is on), Yomgʻir yogʻib turibdi (It is raining), Koʻrinib turibdi (It’s plain to see). The same is true of oʻtirmoq and yotmoq. The past yonib turdi means it stayed on for a while in the past.
5. Compared with -yap
-yap simply says is happening now. -(i)b turibdi paints a steady state you can see, like something standing there.

Common Mistakes
Using the past turdi for something that is going on now.
Oshxonada hozir chiroq yonib turdi.Oshxonada hozir chiroq yonib turibdi.Intended: The light is on in the kitchen now. yonib turdi is past (it stayed on for a while). For right now, use -(i)b turibdi.
Adding -b instead of -ib after a consonant.
Bir daqiqa kutb turing.Bir daqiqa kutib turing.kut- ends in a consonant, so it takes -ib: kutib.
