-(i)b tashlamoq
Doing Thoroughly: -(i)b Tashlamoq
tashlamoq alone means to throw. After a verb in -(i)b, it says the action was done all the way, in one decisive go: Xatni yirtib tashladi (He tore up the letter).
How It Works
This is one of the helper verbs that follow a verb in -(i)b.
1. Building the form
Take the verb stem (the dictionary form without -moq) and add -ib after a consonant or -b after a vowel. Then add the helper verb, which carries the tense and the person:
- yirt- → yirtib tashladi (he tore it up)
- ye- → yeb tashladi (she ate it all up)
- oʻchir- → oʻchirib tashladim (I deleted it)
2. Done completely
tashlamoq says nothing is left: kesib tashlamoq (to cut off), sindirib tashlamoq (to smash), oʻchirib tashlamoq (to delete, to wipe out), yeb tashlamoq (to eat up). Compare yirtdi (he tore it) with yirtib tashladi (he tore it up).
3. Quick and decisive
It also says an action was done firmly and fast, without hesitation: kurtkasini yechib tashladi (she threw off her jacket), eshikni ochib tashladi (he flung the door open).
4. In requests
With the command forms it sounds firm: Bu fikrni boshingizdan chiqarib tashlang (Get this idea out of your head).
5. Similar helpers
-(i)b yubormoq also means quickly, but often by accident or without meaning to. -(i)b boʻlmoq only says you finished. -(i)b qoʻymoq says you did it and left it that way.

Common Mistakes
Putting the tense ending on the main verb as well.
U xatni yirtdi tashladi.U xatni yirtib tashladi. The main verb stays in its -(i)b form. Only tashlamoq takes the tense and the person.
Swapping the order of the two verbs (meant: he tore up the letter).
U xatni tashlab yirtdi.U xatni yirtib tashladi. The helper always comes second. Tashlab yirtdi would mean he threw the letter down and then tore it.
