آج / کل
Today, Yesterday and Tomorrow
Look at the verb and the conversation: کل آیا تھا means yesterday he came, while کل آؤں گا means I will come tomorrow.
How It Works
آج موسم اچھا ہے describes today’s weather.
کل میں بازار گیا تھا describes a past visit to the market. Here کل means yesterday.
کل ہم لاہور جائیں گے describes a future trip to Lahore. Here کل means tomorrow. Recognize the two time meanings first; the past and future verb forms are taught separately.
کل صبح by itself can mean yesterday morning or tomorrow morning. In کل صبح ملتے ہیں, the speakers are making a plan, so the intended meaning is tomorrow morning. State the day or date when context is not enough.
