ہے نا / ہیں نا
Seeking Confirmation
A statement + نا؟ → that is right, isn’t it?
How It Works
A final نا can turn a statement into a confirmation check. The speaker usually has an expectation and invites the listener to confirm or correct it.
Use ہے, ہیں, or another appropriate verb form from the original statement. Do not replace plural ہیں with singular ہے just because English uses one fixed expression such as “right?”
Intonation matters. A question can sound reassuring or insistent, while a falling statement with نا can stress something the speaker treats as already understood. This entry focuses on confirmation questions.
