Repeating an Adverb
The repeated word keeps its meaning but adds a useful shade.
How It Works
Repeated adverbs describe different relationships. آہستہ آہستہ can describe a slow or gradual action, while بار بار describes repeated occasions.
Context decides whether the repetition adds intensity, continuity, distribution, or emphasis. صاف صاف can ask for plain, clear speech; it does not mean “clean on two occasions.”
Learn useful repeated expressions as whole phrases. Do not double every adverb to mean “very,” and do not assume every repetition indicates exactly two events.
