Repeating a Noun for Distribution

Level 4

One place after another → گھر گھر، گلی گلی۔

How It Works

A repeated noun can distribute an action over the places or items it names. گھر گھر can mean each house or from house to house, depending on the sentence.

This construction often emphasizes the range covered. It need not give a counted total, and it is not a rule for replacing every plural noun with repetition.

For an exact quantity per person or group, use the separate numeral pattern ایک ایک or دو دو. Noun repetition and numeral repetition are related but do different jobs.
