Identify This House
บ้านหลังนี้สวยมาก means this house is very beautiful. หลัง stands between บ้าน and นี้ in the displayed phrase. สวยมาก describes the house as very beautiful.

ฉันซื้อเตียงใหม่หนึ่งหลัง says I bought one new bed. ใหม่ describes the bed as new, and หนึ่งหลัง counts one bed. The sentence does not say the bed has a canopy. เตียง can also serve as its own classifier, as in เตียงสามเตียง.
ตู้หลังนั้นเก่าแล้ว means that cupboard is already old. นั้น identifies that cupboard, and เก่าแล้ว describes it as already old. The phrase does not specify its size or weight.

Choose By The Noun And Context
The house exercise uses หลัง. The umbrella exercise uses ร่มสองคัน, two umbrellas, with คัน. A shelter function does not by itself determine a classifier. Compare the separate classifier and counting lessons for other noun contexts.
