พระองค์
Classifier for Royalty
พระองค์ is the respectful classifier used with พระมหากษัตริย์ and พระพุทธเจ้า in these examples. Read the number or identifying word with its noun and classifier.
How It Works
Counting A King
กรุงธนบุรีมีพระมหากษัตริย์ ๑ พระองค์ describes the Thonburi Kingdom as having one king. Here ๑ is the Thai numeral one, and พระองค์ follows it. In the exercise พระมหากษัตริย์สองพระองค์, สอง means two.
Identifying Or Grouping
พระมหากษัตริย์พระองค์แรกแห่งราชวงศ์จักรี identifies the first king of the Chakri dynasty. แรก follows พระองค์ in that phrase. ประเทศไทยมีพระมหากษัตริย์หลายพระองค์ is read here as a statement about kings across Thai history; หลาย means many. This historical reading does not describe several kings reigning together.
Referring To Buddhas
พระพุทธเจ้าทุกพระองค์ means every Buddha. ทุก stands before พระองค์ in this phrase. The classifier conveys respect without describing a Buddha as a creator god.
Choose A Classifier For The Noun
The monk exercise uses วัดนี้มีพระสงฆ์สิบรูป, this temple has ten monks. รูป and องค์ can both count พระสงฆ์; use รูป in the displayed exercise. พระองค์ in the king and Buddha examples does not make it the classifier for ordinary monks. Compare the separate องค์ / รูป entry for those forms.
Follow The Displayed Word Order
For the historical statement about many kings, keep พระมหากษัตริย์หลายพระองค์ together in that order. The alternative หลายพระองค์พระมหากษัตริย์ moves the counting phrase before its noun and does not match the displayed construction. See Noun + Number + Classifier for a separate counting lesson.

Common Mistakes
Using พระองค์ For The Ordinary Monks In This Exercise
วัดนี้มีพระสงฆ์สิบพระองค์วัดนี้มีพระสงฆ์สิบรูปFor the ordinary monks in วัดนี้มีพระสงฆ์สิบรูป, use รูป. พระสงฆ์ can also take องค์, so องค์ itself is not an error. The alternative with สิบพระองค์ does not match the classifier for the ordinary monks in this task.
Choosing The Respectful Classifier In The King Phrase
พระมหากษัตริย์สององค์พระมหากษัตริย์สองพระองค์For the formal king-counting phrase in this task, choose พระมหากษัตริย์สองพระองค์. Keep the complete classifier พระองค์ after สอง. The exercise asks for that respectful construction, not an automatic classifier choice for every word beginning with พระ.
Moving The Counting Phrase Before Its Noun
ประเทศไทยมีหลายพระองค์พระมหากษัตริย์ประเทศไทยมีพระมหากษัตริย์หลายพระองค์The historical many-kings statement uses ประเทศไทยมีพระมหากษัตริย์หลายพระองค์. Keep the noun พระมหากษัตริย์ before หลายพระองค์ in this displayed construction; the alternative reverses those parts.
