morati + Infinitive
Having to Do Something
Morati combines with an infinitive to express necessity.
How It Works
Morati combines with an infinitive to express necessity. The modal verb is conjugated; the following infinitive stays unchanged. Ne smeš means you must not, while ni treba means you do not have to.
In Moram delati, moram carries person and number while delati names the required activity. Distinguish three messages: moram means necessity, ne smem prohibition, and ni treba absence of necessity. English must not and do not have to are not interchangeable here.
