قبل از اینکه بروم، در را بستم. Closing the door comes before leaving.

How It Works

Build the connector. قبل از اینکه is followed by a clause, including its person-marked verb. In قبل از اینکه بروم, ـم identifies the person who will leave at that point in the story.

Keep the main time. قبل از اینکه بروم، در را بستم narrates a past closing. قبل از اینکه بروم، در را می‌بندم can describe the speaker’s plan. The main predicate supplies that difference.

Allow different people. قبل از اینکه مهمان‌ها برسند، غذا را آماده کردم has the guests arriving and the speaker preparing. برسند identifies the guests; کردم identifies the speaker.

Do not infer failure. The before relation does not say that the later event never happened. The speaker may have left immediately afterward. If the actual outcome matters, state it in the surrounding narrative.
