cadun, caduna

Each One

Level 3

Cadun and caduna mean each one: Cadun a son libre.

How It Works

FormMeaningExample
caduneach one (a man, or a mixed group)Cadun a son libre.
cadunaeach one (a woman, or women)Caduna a sa cadièra.
cadun de + groupeach ofCadun dels dròlles a un can.

The verb stays singular, even though the idea covers many people: Cadun a, not Cadun an.

The word son or sa agrees with the thing owned, not with the person. Both Cadun a sa cadièra and Caduna a son libre are correct.

After a preposition, cadun works the same way: Donam un cafè a cadun. If a noun follows, use cada instead.

Cada always needs a noun after it. For each one on its own, use cadun.

  • Using a plural verb with cadun.

    Cadun an son libre.
    Cadun a son libre.

Cadun means each one, so the verb is singular.
