-नको लागि

Purpose with -नको लागि

Level 3Sounds Like nakō lāgi

-नको लागि is the longer way to say in order to.

How It Works

The plain -न form already gives a purpose: म चिया पिउन जान्छु. Adding को लागि makes the purpose clear and fits longer sentences.

VerbIn order to
सिक्नुसिक्नको लागि
पिउनुपिउनको लागि
बन्नुबन्नको लागि
किन्नुकिन्नको लागि

म नेपाली सिक्नको लागि नेपाल जान्छु. The purpose can also open the sentence: नेपाली सिक्नको लागि म नेपाल जान्छु.

The -न part joins to को: सिक्नको. लागि stays a separate word. In print, you may see का लागि instead of को लागि; either is correct.

It works with a noun too: चियाको लागि (for tea). With a verb, it always uses -न first.
