मेरो नाम ... हो

Saying Your Name

Level 1Sounds Like mērō nāma ... hō

Say your name with मेरो नाम and हो, and ask for one with तपाईंको नाम के हो?

How It Works

The pattern is मेरो नाम + name + हो. The verb is हो because the sentence says what your name is.

PatternExample
my nameमेरो नाम सरिता हो
your name (polite)तपाईंको नाम के हो?
your name (friendly)तिम्रो नाम के हो?
his or her name (respect)उहाँको नाम के हो?
his or her name (middle)उनको नाम बिनोद हो

The verb stays हो for all of them, because नाम is the thing being described. It does not change with your name, so do not write मेरो नाम सरिता हुँ.

Another common way to introduce yourself is म सरिता हुँ, which means I am Sarita, with हुँ for म. Use whichever feels natural.
