मैले / तिमीले / उसले
Pronouns with ले
म becomes मैले, ऊ becomes उसले and उनी becomes उनले. The others just add ले.
How It Works
ले joins every pronoun, but three of them change first.
| Pronoun | With ले | Past of खानु |
|---|---|---|
| म | मैले | खाएँ |
| हामी | हामीले | खायौँ |
| तिमी | तिमीले | खायौ |
| तपाईं | तपाईंले | खानुभयो |
| ऊ | उसले | खायो |
| उनी | उनले | खाए / खाइन् |
| उहाँ | उहाँले | खानुभयो |
Other words follow the same pattern: यो becomes यसले and त्यो becomes त्यसले. The verb ending comes from the doer, so in the simple past मैले goes with -एँ (or -इनँ for did not) and तिमीले goes with -यौ (or -एनौ for did not).
ले joins the pronoun, but the verb stays a separate word. Write मैले भनेँ, not one long word. The usual order is doer, object, verb.
Examples (5)

I told him.
मैले is म plus ले, and उहाँ is a respected person.
- तिमीले के किन्यौ?
What did you buy?
तिमीले goes with the ending -यौ.
- तपाईंले यो किताब कहिले पढ्नुभयो?
When did you read this book?
तपाईंले asks politely, so the verb has -नुभयो.
- उसले मलाई फोन गर्यो।
He called me.
उसले is the plain form for ऊ.
- हामीले सँगै चिया पियौँ।
We drank tea together.
हामीले takes the ending -यौँ.
Common Mistakes
Writing म plus ले without the change.
मले भात खाएँ।मैले भात खाएँ।म becomes मैले before ले.
Using ऊले for he.
ऊले मलाई फोन गर्यो।उसले मलाई फोन गर्यो।ऊ becomes उसले before ले.
