How It Works

These five verbs come up in almost every conversation.

Verb

Only जानु and हुनु change the stem completely: जा- becomes ग- and हु- becomes भ-. आउनु drops its उ (आउ- becomes आ-), as other verbs ending in -उनु do, and दिनु and लिनु keep their stems.

जानु, आउनु and हुनु take no object, so their doers have no ले. दिनु and लिनु do take an object: मैले उनलाई किताब दिएँ.
