भित्र / बाहिर / माथि / मुनि
Inside, Outside, Above and Under
Four place words, all joined to the noun.
How It Works
These four words join the noun before them.
| Word | Meaning | Example |
|---|---|---|
| भित्र | inside | कोठाभित्र |
| बाहिर | outside | घरबाहिर |
| माथि | above, on top of | टेबुलमाथि |
| मुनि | under | रुखमुनि |
A full sentence is simple: किताब टेबुलमाथि छ (the book is on the table). Add a verb of being, छ, to say where something is.
तल means below or down. It stays a separate word and follows a noun with को: टेबुलको तल. On its own it means down: कृपया तल आउनुहोस् (please come down).
The same words can stand alone. बाहिर जाऔँ means let us go outside. माथि जानुहोस् means go up. These forms are common in daily talk.
