More and Less

Level 3Sounds Like baḍhī ra kama

बढी is more and कम is less.

How It Works

बढी means more and कम means less. They work before a noun like धेरै and थोरै, and they also work on their own as adverbs: मैले आज कम खाएँ (I ate less today).

To compare with a number or a thing, use भन्दा, which joins the word before it: सय रुपैयाँभन्दा कम, मभन्दा बढी, पाँच किलोभन्दा बढी.

  • बढी is more than, over.
  • कम is less than, under.

After भन्दा, a person pronoun joins too: मभन्दा, तिमीभन्दा, उनीभन्दा.

For a plain a lot, use धेरै: धेरै पैसा is a lot of money, and बढी पैसा is more money.
