How It Works
Verbs with no subject.
- Врне. It is raining. Врне is used for any rain or snow falling, and Врне снег is It is snowing.
- Грми. It is thundering.
- With a noun as subject: Паѓа снег. (Snow is falling.) · Дува ветер. (The wind is blowing.)
е + a neuter word. Use the form ending in -о:
- Студено е. It is cold. · Ладно е. It is chilly.
- Топло е. It is warm. · Жешко е. It is hot.
- Сончево е. It is sunny. · Облачно е. It is cloudy.
The word order Денес е топло or Топло е денес is equally natural. Многу makes it stronger: Многу е студено.
Asking. Какво е времето? means What is the weather like? (Asking What Kind).
How you feel is different. To say I am cold, Macedonian says it is cold to me: Ми е студено. That is taught in Feelings With a To-Me Pronoun.

Common Mistakes
Adding a subject like English it.
Тоа врне.Врне.Weather verbs have no subject in Macedonian. The verb alone is a full sentence.
Using the masculine form of the adjective.
Студен е денес.Студено е денес.Weather uses the neuter form ending in -о. Студен е would mean he or it (a masculine thing) is cold.
Saying I am cold with сум.
Јас сум студено.Ми е студено.The intended meaning is I feel cold. Macedonian says it is cold to me: Ми е студено.
