Level 1Sounds Like maški rod na soglaska

If a noun ends in a consonant, it is usually masculine: град, стол, пријател.

How It Works

Common masculine nouns. брат (brother), ден (day), леб (bread), телефон (phone), автобус (bus), учител (teacher), студент (student). A final ј counts as a consonant too: чај (tea), крај (end).

What goes with them.

The feminine exceptions. A small group of consonant-final nouns is feminine: ноќ (night), пролет (spring), сол (salt), љубов (love), and abstract nouns formed with -ост, such as радост (joy). Гост (guest) and мост (bridge) are ordinary masculine nouns. They take feminine words: долга ноќ. See Feminine Nouns Ending in a Consonant.

Plurals. Longer masculine nouns usually add -и (студенти), and most one-syllable ones add -ови (градови). See Plural of Masculine Nouns and One-Syllable Masculine Plurals.
