Masculine Plural in -и

Plural of Masculine Nouns

Level 1Sounds Like množina na maški imenki na -i

To make most masculine nouns plural, add -и: студент → студенти, телефон → телефони.

How It Works

Just add -и. This is the usual plural for masculine nouns of two or more syllables:

  • студент → студенти (students)
  • пријател → пријатели (friends)
  • телефон → телефони (phones)
  • ресторан → ресторани (restaurants)

К, г and х change.

  • к → ц: ученик → ученици (pupils), јазик → јазици (languages)
  • г → з: бубрег → бубрези (kidneys)
  • х → с: монах → монаси (monks)

Masculine nouns in -а. Nouns such as колега replace the -а with -и: колеги.

Other patterns.

With the article. The plural article is -те: студентите (the students). See The Definite Article.
