Saying Your Age
Hindi gives an age as "of so many years": मैं पच्चीस साल का हूँ (I'm twenty-five).
How It Works
To give an age, say the number, then साल (year), then का or की, then the verb to be. Word for word, मैं पच्चीस साल का हूँ means "I am of twenty-five years".
The का part matches the person whose age it is, not the word साल. Use का for a man or boy, की for a woman or girl, and के for several males, a mixed group or a man you want to show respect to. Women and girls keep की, even in the plural or with respect: मेरी दादीजी अस्सी साल की हैं.

To ask an adult politely, say आपकी उम्र क्या है? उम्र (age) is feminine, so it takes आपकी. With friends or children you can ask तुम कितने साल के हो? or, to a girl, तुम कितने साल की हो?
साल stays the same for one year or many. For babies, use महीने the same way: वह छह महीने की है (She is six months old).

कितने goes with साल, and की matches the girl being asked.
Common Mistakes
Matching का to the word साल instead of to the person.
मेरी बहन बीस साल का है।मेरी बहन बीस साल की है।बहन is feminine, so the age phrase takes की.
Leaving out का or की.
मैं पच्चीस साल हूँ।मैं पच्चीस साल का हूँ।Hindi links the age to the person with का or की. A number and साल cannot stand alone before हूँ.
