אנחנו / אתם / אתן
We and Plural You
Use אנחנו for we, אתם for a masculine or mixed group, and אתן for a feminine group in standard agreement.
How It Works
A Group That Includes You
אנחנו includes the speaker. Use a masculine plural predicate for a masculine or mixed group in standard agreement and a feminine plural predicate for a feminine group. The pronoun itself stays אנחנו.
A Group You Address
אתם is pronounced atem; אתן is pronounced aten. Both mean you when addressing several people. In אתן מוכנות?, the adjective is feminine plural. In אתם מוכנים?, it is masculine plural.
In casual speech, אתם is also often heard for feminine groups. Keep listening awareness separate from the explicit standard pattern taught here. Plural pronouns are not polite singular forms: one person is normally אתה or את.
